Background

I was born on September 18, 1973, into a family that placed a high value on education and discipline, which instilled in me a strong work ethic from an early age. My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a Master’s Degree in Marine Engineering. Recognizing the importance of leadership in driving innovation, I pursued a Management Development Programme at IIM Ahmedabad and a Post Graduate Programme in Management for Senior Executives from the Indian School of Business. These experiences have equipped me with a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic management capabilities.

My professional career began in the Indian Navy, where I served for several years in key roles, including Deputy Director and Quality Control Engineer. The discipline and strategic thinking I honed during my military service have been invaluable assets throughout my career.

In 2005, I transitioned to the corporate world by joining Sigachi Industries Limited, a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical excipients. Over the years, I advanced through various leadership positions, ultimately becoming Joint Managing Director in 2014 and later taking on the role of Managing Director and CEO.

Under my leadership, Sigachi has experienced remarkable growth, expanded our global operations and enhanced our product offerings.

In 2018, I was honored to be recognized as Business Leader of the Year by Business Television India for my leadership that propelled Sigachi beyond industry averages in growth metrics.

My journey reflects a commitment to making a positive impact not only within the pharmaceutical industry but also in our communities. With over 35 years of experience across diverse sectors such as Pharma, Nutraceuticals, Healthcare, and Operations, I am proud to have achieved a PAT CAGR of 44% over the last five years—a testament to my commitment to ethical leadership and transformative vision. My expertise lies in Solid Oral Dosage forms, Cellulose Chemistry, and effective M&A strategies that have positioned Sigachi as an industry leader.

Achievements

Since joining Sigachi Industries in 2005, I have helped transform the company from a small-scale business into a market leader in the Pharmaceutical, Food, and Nutrition industries. Today, we proudly export to over 65 countries and offer the highest number of SKUs in our product portfolio. We achieved over $50 million in revenue while managing a global workforce of more than 1,500 employees.

A highlight of my career was leading Sigachi through a highly successful IPO that delivered an extraordinary 270% return on its listing day—the highest ever for any company on its listing day in 13 years at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Community Initiatives

I believe in giving back to the community. Sigachi has engaged in various welfare projects. This includes a partnership with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, aimed at improving access to drinking water, hygiene, sanitation, and irrigation for villages in Gujarat, and a collaboration with Mauna Dhwani Foundation in Odisha. The program helps empower hundreds of tribal women in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities through a world-class stitching unit and comprehensive training program. I have had the privilege of being a panelist at several industry conferences, including the NextGen Therapeutics & Diagnostics Conference (2021) and the Nutrithink Conference in Mumbai (2022). Sharing insights as a speaker at prestigious business schools like IIM Shillong, IIM Indore, ISB, and XLRI Jamshedpur has been incredibly rewarding. I was honored to be invited as the Chief Guest for a Business Ethics conference at XLRI.
